The forest is like the busiest green apartment on Earth, packed with all kinds of improbable tenants.
As the land changes, so do the strategies of the lives that share it. In the tangled tropical rainforest, towering plants open a rich vertical space, and many animals have evolved extraordinary gifts for life in the trees. In the temperate forest, where the four seasons are sharp, ground-dwellers make full use of a warm-blooded body, meeting the bitter winter through hibernation, migration, or a change of coat.
